1 Corinthians 15 English Standard Version (ESV)

…Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

21 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.

23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.

24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power.

25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

27 For “God has put all things in subjection under his feet.”

Jesus is KING!

Jesus is not just our Saviour, he is our King… Our Lord. In fact he is THE King of Kings and THE Lord of Lords of all.

He will not just reign when he returns, he reigns now.

Verse 25 says For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

When Christ returns this kingdom will be fully realised when he brings justice and peace. However, as the church, as his body, we are to bring a foretaste of this kingdom to the world now. He are his hands and feet shining Christ’s light into a world of injustice and chaos.

Our hope is found only in Christ, our King, our Saviour, our friend!

Father God,

You had this plan laid out before creation. Jesus Christ the lamb that was slain before the foundation of the World – for our salvation – is also our Lord and King. All of this is for your Glory, God.

What is our only hope in life and death? That we are not our own but belong to our God.

In the name of our precious saviour, Jesus Christ

Amen.
