Sermon – Model of Gospel Ministry

John 1:1-18

We can preach Gods good law and even show how people can live better moral lives, and we should as it reveals God’s righteousness and our human condition…but without Christ what is it? ITS WORKS, EMPTY and DOES NOT SAVE.

We see in the life of John the Baptist a model for gospel ministry. What is that model? It’s a message that is Christ Centred.

Whether you are preaching a sermon, leading worship, bring us around the Lords table or sharing with a friend one on one. Make it Christ Centred. Be a witness. Bear witness to His majesty and power and glory. Declare boldly, “the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

Historically, John the Baptist fulfilled prophecy preparing the way for Christ.

For us today, he is an example of how we are to share the gospel fearlessly.

Romans 15:5-6,13

5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, 6 that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
