ILL> Take this Book – THE WORD OF GOD

66 books/40 authors/1500 years

Written in their own words and yet inspired. Inerrant in their original form.

Yet one unified narrative

It is the self-disclosure of the one true God revealed to us in the God-Man Jesus Christ – A story of how God is redeeming mankind through Jesus!

From Genesis to Revelation.

The whole bible points to CHRIST.

His birth > His life > His death > His Resurrection > His Ascension > His rule and His return = when we will make all things right.

OT points us forward to CHRIST with prophecy, type and shadow.

Gen 3:15 – The promise of the woman’s offspring – he shall bruise the serpents head.

Exodus – The Passover lamb – a picture of jesus the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world

Is 53 – God suffering servant will be pieced for our transgressions.

Not to mention – Joseph > Moses > Joshua > Samson > David as types of Christ. I could go on and on.

The NT points us to CHRIST > His work on the Cross, the resurrection and his coming again.

John 20:31 “But these things are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the CHRIST…”

We see that ALL THINGS are created through him and sustained through him.

All those the father chose in CHRIST before the creation of the world are redeemed through the Blood of Jesus.

Christ is the head of the church!

Our hope is in his resurrection and in his coming again.

So, it makes perfect sense that Christ instructs us to do this in remembrance of him.

His body…broken for us

His Blood…shed for us, for the forgiveness of sin
